Gutter cleaning in Everett, Snohomish & Bellevue
When gutters fill up, rain spills over the edge instead of draining away from your house. With tall evergreens and months of rain around here, that happens faster than most people expect.
Signs
How to tell your gutters need cleaning
One Way Window Cleaning cleans gutters for homes in Everett, Snohomish, Seattle and Bellevue, WA, clearing leaves and debris out by hand and checking that the downspouts flow.
The clearest sign is water spilling over the edge of the gutter during rain instead of running down the downspout. If you see that, the gutter is already full.
- Water overflowing the edge or dripping behind the gutter in rain
- Downspouts that run slow, trickle, or stay silent in a storm
- Sagging sections, or debris visible over the edge from the ground
- Dark stains on the siding below the gutter line
- Water pooling next to the foundation after rain
You do not need a ladder to check most of this. Stand outside during the next steady rain and watch where the water goes. The common questions below go through each sign and what it leads to if it is left alone.
Included
What a gutter cleaning includes
A gutter cleaning clears the leaves, needles and debris out by hand, checks that the downspouts flow, and leaves the ground below tidy. Leaves, fir needles, moss and roof grit settle in the gutters and turn into a wet sludge that blocks the downspouts, and hand clearing is what gets that sludge out instead of washing it into the downspout.
- Leaves, needles and debris cleared out of the gutters
- Downspouts checked to make sure they’re flowing
- Debris cleaned up, not left on your lawn
- A heads-up if we spot loose sections or leaks
Process
How the cleaning works, step by step
We work along the gutter run by run, scooping debris out by hand and bagging it as we go. Then each downspout gets checked for flow, and the clogs we can reach from the gutter get cleared, because a clean gutter with a blocked downspout still overflows in the first real rain.
Two story homes are where most people decide to hire this out, and that is a fair call. Ladder work with a bucket in hand, on ground that is often wet and sloped around here, is genuinely risky. While we are up there we also note loose sections or leaks and tell you what we saw. We flag problems, and the cleaning itself stays the job you booked.
Why it matters
Why clogged gutters matter
A full gutter overflows right next to your foundation, soaks the fascia boards and splashes dirty water onto siding and windows. Over time that means rot, stains and water where you don’t want it. A cleaning or two a year is a lot cheaper than any of those repairs.
The splash matters for your glass too. Overflow carries grit and roof dirt down the siding and onto the windows below, which is why homes with clogged gutters often have streaked, spotted glass under the roofline even right after a wash.
How often
How often to clean your gutters
For most homes, once in late fall after the leaves are down and once in spring is enough. If your house sits under firs, cedars or maples, plan on more, because conifers drop needles and scale all year, not just in fall.
Our guide on how often gutters need cleaning in Washington puts gutters on the same local calendar as windows and concrete, so you can plan the year in one read. Since we’re already up on a ladder, it’s easy to add window cleaning to the same visit.
Guards
If you have gutter guards
Gutter guards slow debris down, but they do not end gutter cleaning. Fir needles, seeds and roof grit are small enough to get through most guards, and leaves mat on top of the guards themselves until water sheets over them.
So guarded gutters still need an occasional check and cleaning, just less often than open gutters under the same trees. We are glad to clean gutters with guards fitted. What we do not do is sell or install guards, so the advice you get here is only about keeping what you have working.
Cost
What affects the price
The price turns on how much gutter your home has and how many stories. A one story ranch is a quicker, simpler job than a two story house with several roof levels. How packed the debris is matters too, and so does access: steep or soft ground and tight side yards make ladder work slower and more careful.

Questions
Common questions
How often should gutters be cleaned?
Twice a year for most homes: late fall and spring. Homes under a lot of trees often need it more.
What are the signs my gutters are clogged?
Water spilling over the edge during rain is the clearest sign. Also watch for downspouts that run slow or stay silent in a storm, sagging sections, debris visible over the edge, and stains on the siding below the gutter line.
Do you clean the downspouts?
We check that they’re flowing and clear the clogs we can reach from the gutter.
What happens to the debris you take out?
It gets cleaned up, not left on your lawn or in your beds. Clearing the gutters and leaving the mess on the ground would only do half the job.
I have gutter guards. Do I still need cleaning?
Usually yes, just less often. Guards slow leaves down, but fir needles, seeds and roof grit still get through, and debris mats on top of the guards themselves. A guarded gutter that is never checked can still overflow. We clean gutters with guards on them, but we do not install guards.
Can clogged gutters actually damage my house?
Yes. A full gutter overflows next to the foundation, soaks the fascia boards behind it, and splashes dirty water onto siding and windows, week after week of rain. Over a wet season that means rot, stains and water pooling where it should never sit. Cleaning costs far less than any of those repairs.
Do I need to be home?
Usually not, as long as we can get to the gutters safely. It helps if gates are unlocked and the areas under the gutters are clear.
How much does gutter cleaning cost?
It depends on how much gutter your home has, how many stories, how packed the debris is, and how easy the roofline is to reach safely.
